Rockwell RK9000 | Review

The Rockwell RK9000 Jawhorse helps you out when you are in need of a further pair of hands. When you may be doing one of a variety of jobs such as constructing an outdoor playhouse for your children, hang doors, sheetrocking or setting in fence posts, then this portable workstation can really help you out big time!
So what does the Workstation offer?
- jaws that can be opened to 37 inches (94 cm) wide and can hold awkwardly shaped items thus providing huge flexibility on the job
- offers you the opportunity to work on jobs without the help of another person
- foot pedal that offers up to 2,200lbs of force (that’s one metric ton!)
- nicely compact folding design for simple storage
This portable workhorse is suitable for you if you are an occasional do it yourself type of person or even if you are a pro contractor – its that sturdy!
Furthermore, with the workhorses versatility, it can fully replace your sawhorse, any clamps you use, vises, workbenches and a number of other very handy tools you may be using.
You can lock (using a lock release switch) a variety of saw sizes into the jaws which allows for precise cutting in a safe and secure manner as there is no need to balance large boards or use one-handed saw operation.
The Rockwell RK9000 Jawhorse offers an extra-wide stance (3-legged design) and solid steel construction, which provides for great stability no matter where you are working and extra strength for all sorts of jobs.
Simple use adds to its attractiveness. Get it set up, lock it and then clamp what ever you need to work on or with in the jaws and you are away. Great if you have limited space to work in. When you are not using the workbench it folds neatly away to just 29×14x13 inches (74×36x33cm) and weighs only 43 pounds (19.5kg).
With an integrated roller this makes it simple to move around your workspace and with holes in two of the feet you can then bolt it in place to give it some permanency if you so wish.
There are a number of accessories which are available separately too. These accessories include:
- a jaw for chainsaws where you can sharpen the chain
- a welding jaw for when you wish to use the workstation to perform any welding jobs
- there is a plywood jaw for sheeted woods of up to 52 inches wide (132cm)
- attachable saddlebags to keep any tools etc that you may wish

What is Not so Good About the Rockwell RK9000 Jawhorse?
The instructions for using the Jawhorse are not so great. If you really like clear-cut instructions when you have purchased a new piece of kit, then you may be disappointed here. Mind you, with a little experience you should be able to get around the unclear instructions.
So, just to sum up:
- the vice jaws open up to 37 inches
- lock release switch allows for easy locking and unlocking of materials
- jaws clamp up to 2,200lbs (1 ton) in pressure – foot pedal operated leaving your hands free
- folds away to small size and weighs only 43lbs
- great stability on a variety of surfaces provided by the tripod legs and can be fixed to the floor too for extra permanency
